Timothy Batten is a graduate of the School of Visual Arts in New York City. "Art is what I love and the human figure is my passion. The human form is so unique and graceful. Poses that can be exaggerated or embellished are what I look for in a subject. Contour and gesture are a priority over photo realism. Realism in my work can best be described with form rather than precise detail. The human form is a series of complex shapes that form an object. I want to describe this object as a form that can be broken down, rebuilt and re-imagined as something unique and separate from the person that the pose had originally come from. I use strong colors and line to compliment the gesture and exaggerated aspect of my work. To me there is no better subject than the human body. And I hope to continue to describe it with growing complexity and energy."
